Design Writing
The Writing Centre

This long-term research project at Emily Carr University aims to enhance support for design students in developing stronger design writing skills. The researcher is conducting in-depth interviews with members of the Design Faculty to gather insights into current challenges, pedagogical approaches, and expectations related to writing within the design curriculum. The project also incorporates external research and case studies from other institutions to contextualize and broaden the findings. The ultimate goal is to identify practical and meaningful strategies to improve how design writing is taught and supported, ultimately encouraging students to express their ideas with greater clarity, confidence, and critical thinking.

The project is currently in progress.
